Whether posing proudly alongside Marines during his promotion ceremony or wagging his way through the Modern Day Marine expo, Chesty XVI exemplifies Marine pride with every paw-step. This four-legged Marine also brought joy to local children at the Congress Heights Holiday Event last year, spreading festive spirit and embodying the Corps’ commitment to community and service. Follow Chesty's adventures as he continues to leave his paw print on Marine history!
The name Chesty is an homage to Marine Lt. Gen. Lewis Burwell “Chesty” Puller. During his years of service from 1918 to 1955, Puller became the most decorated Marine in U.S. history, earning five Navy Crosses and an Army Distinguished Service Cross. The Crosses are considered the second-highest U.S. military decorations, after the Medal of Honor.
